Personal Profile: 2 nd Year Computer Science finalist. Experienced in programming and database design, both in team-based and individual project settings. Conscientious, with a keen logical approach to problem solving and the ability to relate well to people in a wide range of contexts.

Education:

1998 - 2001 B.Sc. (hons) in Computer Science, University of Wales Swansea.
The modular course has consisted of individual and team coursework and programming projects supported by lectures which included:
  • Delphi , taught course and individual project, programming a database user-interface for Windows.
  • Pascal, theory and individual programme development.
  • Database development, relational databases using Paradox and Access .
  • Software design, data structures and system design.
  • Expert systems development using Leonardo .
  • Networks, compilers and microprocessor design.
  • Operating systems, in particular UNIX and Windows 95 .

    In addition I have attended departmental courses in C , C++ and Visual Basic , and have a good working knowledge of these languages.

    Project work

    I have successfully completed 3 team exercises involving the development of application software using Delphi and C, and design documentation to support the software.
    My final year project involves developing a database application system using Delphi which will be accessed via the Internet . This has meant learning about web applications, user interface design and looking into different methods of implementation.

    Positions of responsibility:

    Committee member of the University Computer Society. This involved helping organise visiting speakers and social events.
    Final year representative on the Staff / Student Committee. This involves liaising with all computer science finalists, and representing them at departmental meetings. This role helped develop my negotiation and communication skills.

    Relevant work experience:

    Summer 2000 IT Network Wales Placement at a family hotel in Swansea.
    I was responsible for implementing a computerised booking and accounting system and developed software using ACCESS and Sage (Microsoft Applications). I also purchased and installed the hardware, implemented the new system and trained the staff to use it.

    Art Drawing, painting and pottery.
    Travel I have planned and organised my own travel arrangements over the last
    three years. I have spent time in Europe and North Africa and have
    gained the ability to mix easily with people from a wide variety of
