Datrys, which means 'to solve' in Welsh, was originally formed in 1989 to supply computer software solutions to
businesses. In 2000 its remit was expanded to
provide IT consultancy as well as software services to clients, focusing on the supply of bilingual total computer solutions for small businesses.
Based in Llanelli, Datrys provides information technology solutions to small businesses. The company aims to provide a one stop service, giving clients advice on what
systems to buy and where to source equipment, as well as assisting them with installation, maintenance and support. Datrys also specialises in bilingual website design, hosting and Internet
connectivity.

ITW: What's unique/outstanding about the services you provide?
ER: There is a tendency in the industry to over-specify a solution. We aim to keep the solution as simple as possible. The simpler the solution the easier it is to understand and the more the customer will
get out of it. There is another benefit of it being cheaper too!
Being independent of any supplier, we can advise on the most appropriate software and hardware solution, and our customers appreciate that.
ITW: What one piece of technology has benefited your company the most?
Handheld Palm Pilot. It is more useful than my laptop; because of its size, it is always with me. So when customers get in touch with me I can usually answer their questions immediately. Linked to my
phone I also use it to pick up and respond to e-mails promptly when I'm out of the office.
ITW: What's been the key to your success?
ER: Keeping up with technological advances and responding to market requirements.
ITW: What one piece of advice would you give to start up companies in your field?
Your customers are your best advertisement, so treat ALL of them as if they could provide you with future business - a lot of them will.
ITW: Where do you see your company going in the future?
Datrys is well placed to support companies who wish to take advantage of newer and emerging technologies, particularly in the field of e-commerce.
