Currently celebrating their 21st year in business they believe they have something special to offer.

What unique products/services does your company provide?

 We provide complete business information solutions to any company - large or small. Our client base ranges from one-user systems to wide area networks which cover many different sites all over the UK.

eM1. is our full-featured, multi-user software system which gives users complete control over all of their accounting and stock control needs. It has also been integrated with many 'best of breed' third party applications to make life easier, including BACS, the Postal Address File and Faxing.

Along with the software, we are able to design and implement a network specific to each user's needs. We have a specialised air-conditioned server room to allow us to host servers and have recently incorporated BSSnet - BSS' own broadband based network.

We also offer total support solutions, including hardware and software maintenance, disaster recovery and hotline telephone support.

What's the history of your company?

 Managing Director, Teifion Davies, started BSS in 1983 in a spare bedroom. In 1986 Robert Jones joined BSS and helped Teifion define Macs, Modular Administrative Control System, the first generation of eM1. 1991 began BSS' services to the fuel industry and led them to winning a contract with Texaco in 1996.

In 1999, BSS became a limited company, then employing 9 people. Becoming a Microsoft Certified Partner in 2002 and being recognised as an Investor in People in the following year is a good indication of BSS' commitment to training and professional development.

eM1. was launched in 2003 at the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers exhibition in Dublin, which met with great success. We are currently preparing several major implementations of the system. This year BSS was awarded with a 'Commitment to Innovation' which we are very proud of.

In May of this year we moved into our new, custom-build offices and we currently employ 16 people, with plans to expand in the near future.

What's been the key to your success?

 A close-knit team and our commitment to providing the highest levels of customer service has resulted in long term relationships with many customers.

What one piece of technology (software/hardware/other) has benefited your company most?

 The advent of the Internet and e-mail communications has significantly changed everyone's perception and expectations of technology.

What one piece of advice would you give to start-up companies in your field?

 Have a go. Know your industry. Keep up with new developments. Don't be afraid to fail.

Where do you see your company going in the future?

 "I am very proud of how far BSS have come in the last 21 years and am very much looking forward to the challenges and opportunities the next 21 will bring." says Teifion. With a major upgrade just around the corner, and the expansion of the BSS team, the future looks very promising for BSS.
