The Small Office...Equipped, Networked and Ready for Business!
Thursday 12th
May
6.30pm - 8.30pm (Doors open 6pm)
Robert Recorde Room,
Department of Computer Science
Faraday Building, Swansea University
Is your hardware working efficiently for you or could you improve productivity by ensuring good communications between devices? Many small businesses now have more than one PC and a printer in
use in the office, but don't have a network in place to enable sharing of files and devices.
Mark Kiddell, Web Developer and Technician at ITWales, offers practical advice and quick fix solutions to the basic networking needs of an SME, whether office or home based.
We also take a look at the Home Computer Initiative (HCI),
first introduced in 1999 and re-launched at the start of 2004 as
part of the government's plan to get the whole nation online. HCI
gives employees the opportunity to gain an internet-ready, home computer at a typical saving of over 40%.
Swansea based Comcen have responded to the initiative with
a fully managed program, Comcen4Home, which gives employees access to email, home shopping, multimedia entertainment and on-line learning content, helping the whole family to develop their IT
skills.
Booking is no longer available for this event. A copy of the presentations will shortly be available in the members section
of www.itwales.com
