The Oncoming Challenge: Programming Multicore & Hybrid Systems

Tuesday 5th December 2006
6.00pm - 8.00pm (Doors open 5.30pm for a light buffet and refreshments)

Technium CAST
Parc Menai, Bangor

Guest speaker: John Easton, Senior Consulting IT Specialist & Technical Staff Member, IBM Systems & Technology Group
Future generations will not be able to rely on single platforms or solutions meeting their business needs because business needs are moving faster than the technology to address them. To allow businesses to grow at the rates they need to, the next generation of systems will be hybrids; combining multiple technologies into a single system. This session will outline some of the benefits and challenges of programming hybrid architecture systems.

John has been working for IBM for 20 years in a variety of technical roles. He has worked with a number of development labs helping refine many IBM hardware and software products. He holds several patents in the areas of security and systems software and for 12 years was the worldwide leader for mission-critical systems. Currently, as the European lead architect for emerging technologies, he has several roles competing for his time; all of which revolve around advising organisations on how best to exploit new technologies to maximise business benefits.
