Cardiff company launch 'Good Broadband' guide in support of Ofcom code of practice
A new guide to help consumers understand the maze of broadband terms and services has been published by Cardiff based Epitiro.
Written in plain language, 'Getting Good Broadband' An Insider's Guide explains what speed really means in terms of the 'world wide wait' for downloading emails, MP3 songs and movies.
The guide explores the types of broadband available and reveals how network congestion and the traffic management policies of some ISPs may actually negate the benefits of faster broadband
packages.
Epitiro has published the guide in support of Ofcom's recent voluntary code of practice (COP) announcement which asks ISPs to clarify
speeds advertised with those actually delivered to consumers.
"Consumers want to understand what speed actually means. How long will it take to download a movie? Will VoIP work? What can be done to reduce waiting times? These are the issues that are
important to consumers." said Gavin Johns, CEO, Epitiro "This guide explains how speed - both upload and download - will affect consumer experience. But it also reveals much, much more."
Epitiro aims to bring clarity to many technical terms as well as provide insight as to how broadband services are developing.
'Getting Good Broadband' An Insider's Guide is published by Epitiro, the leading independent broadband benchmarking company, and is available free at www.epitiro.com.
The guide should take about 45 seconds to download using a dial-up connection, or about 3 seconds to download over a humble 1Mbps broadband connection.
