Swansea communications firm provides home comforts for business
Swansea-based communications business Small Planet Technology has unveiled the latest version of 'TwinTalk', its money-saving telephony product which enables small businesses or retailers to add a second BT phone number and connection
to their business, without the cost of renting an additional phone line.
Using TwinTalk, small businesses can now add a business phone, fax, or other device with a new phone number, whilst the original number works with the home phone. All this using only the existing
phone line, significantly increasing functionality for small businesses or homeworkers, while maintaining consistently low overheads.
TwinTalk works with BT's popular 'Call Sign' service to provide customers with an additional number for their existing phone line. BT currently charges customers £124.99 to install a second line with
an associated monthly rental fee of £10.50. By comparison, TwinTalk costs £34.99 to purchase, with a further monthly subscription fee of £1.75 for BT's Call Sign service. Over the first year, TwinTalk
can save customers £195 and £105 in each following year.
Brian Docherty, Managing Director of Small Planet Technology, said, "We've seen a big change in our working culture the last couple of years with a number of people preferring to run their business
from home. A large number of start-up businesses cannot afford to rent office space, but at the same time they need to maintain the appearance of a professional service without risking a reputation they
may have spent time building up.
"With TwinTalk you can keep your home phone private even if you're working there. Simply making your second allocated number your business number, TwinTalk will then route your business calls
to one specified extension phone and your personal calls to another, ensuring your business calls are always answered professionally."
Small Planet Technology previously sold TwinTalk exclusively through BT. The latest version of the product has a number of other benefits beyond its uses for home working, including use with
EPOS and card transaction terminals. Other uses include families who would like to set up a separate phone line for their children and also the deaf who can use TwinTalk to connect a text phone and
telephone to a line.
TwinTalk can only be used on BT exchange lines, or lines where Call Sign is available. Instructions for connection to Call Sign are included in the TwinTalk pack and by visiting www.twintalkhelp.com.
A Call Sign number is a real geographic telephone number on a telephone exchange like the existing home number and can be listed with a business name in the telephone directory or Yellow Pages.
Businesses also have the option of using TwinTalk to terminate an 0800 Freephone or 0845 Lo-call phone number.
