(Doors open at 5.30pm for a buffet and refreshments)
Technium CAST
Parc Menai, Bangor
Guest speaker: Dr Katherine Bean from Dvana Limited
Katherine will talk about the practical use of databases within the SME environment. The interactive talk will cover such topics as:
- What is a database?
- How to choose the best database form
- Planning of the database
- Effort verses reward
- Application specific and custom databases
all with a view to making the process as simple and streamlined as possible
Databases are an often-misunderstood business tool which, if not handled correctly have the potential to cost more than their rewards in terms of; efficiency, cost savings and better business control. By
taking a pragmatic view to data control it is possible to quickly reap the rewards of structured data, and leverage those rewards into effective business control and decision-making. Readymade solutions
to common business processes, such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) will be discussed to consider the advantages and disadvantages of those solutions. The event will aim to provide the
audience with the tools to make well considered business decisions.
Dr Katherine Bean (PhD CEng MIET) works for Dvana Limited (www.dvana.co.uk), which offers consulting services in IT, computers and
management to businesses in North Wales. Kate has spent many years both in academia and in industry making technology available and accessible to businesses, by integrating technology into the
