New networking 'better than email for marketing'

New methods of marketing via social networking and instant messaging will become more popular for businesses than emailing, it has been claimed.

Director of the Cowan Group Marcel Cowan argued that in some cases these fairly recent techniques have already outstripped email, news that may interest those with IT firms in Wales.

Such communicative powers have a greater "reach" than traditional electronic mailing, Mr Cowan asserted, standing apart from that channel.

If email is to catch up, he added, than it will have to evolve and adopt into fresh e-communications avenues.

"When it comes to achieving a greater reach and stand-out from emails, other methods such as viral, social and widgets account for most new strategies," he highlighted.

He added that people are becoming more connected with the devices that they have and mobile experiences are being improved all the time.

Recently, the Internet Advertising Bureau took the opposite view and stated that email is easy to use and at present ahead of newer forms of networking.
