Welsh SMEs warned about cyber crime
Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Wales have been warned about the threat of cybercrime by deputy first minister of the Welsh Assembly Ieuan Wyn Jones.
Speaking at the e-Crime Wales Summit, Mr Jones stated that SMEs in the country are particularly vulnerable to attacks.
According to Mr Jones, many small firms struggle to find the time and resources to address such issues.
He remarked: "Wales is a nation of SMEs. That's one reason why we take e-crime very seriously indeed.
"We aim to keep Wales as a great place - and a safe place - to do business. And business in the 21st century increasingly means e-business."
He added that the effects of e-crime are "damaging for businesses".
Yesterday, editor of ISPreview.co.uk Mark Jackson called for a new advertising code of practice on broadband from Ofcom to go further.
He said that there is "a lack of teeth" in the agreement.
