Security is managers' biggest IT concernA new study of IT decision makers has indicated that security is the biggest issue facing them in their jobs, with compliance and global standardisation also requiring careful consideration.According to infrastructure expert Siemon, some 97 per cent of IT decision makers believe security to be of high or very high importance, while environmental issues were marked as a very serious concern by 52 per cent of respondents. Steven Foster, European managing director at Siemon, said: "In today's world of mission critical applications and reliance on data, it was little wonder security came out as the number one priority. "It's a clear message that for major corporations, security is front of mind, followed by legislative compliance and system standardisation." According to IDC, the IT security software market will transform over the next several years, due to the impact of new technologies such as web 2.0, increasing mobility and virtualisation. The analyst forecast that hosted security services will become increasingly attractive to enterprises looking to keep their costs down.
