Large and small firms have best understanding of IT, report finds
There is good news for large and small companies in Wales - a new study reveals firms of this size are proving the most adept at deriving business value and competitive advantage from their IT solutions, something that mid-sized companies often fail to do.
Computer Weekly reports that the research, carried out by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), shows UK firms are starting to leverage their internet connections to find extra customers and stay in communication with existing ones.
Jeremy Beale, head of knowledge content at the CBI, told the website that most businesses have been coming to terms with a more competitive marketplace as a result of the internet.
He added that IT vendors need to think in terms of services and systems, noting: "Services are not a hardware and software issue. It's about relationships."
According to outsourcing company ITC Infotech, IT services companies are enjoying strong growth in the current climate, as a greater number of organisations come under pressure to outsource non-core functions and expensive parts of their operation, in order to reduce costs.
