Welsh firms urged to use common sense to avoid malware
Companies in Wales wishing to avoid malicious software should use "common sense" according to experts.
Benn Camm-Jones, news editor of Web-User magazine, says paying attention to the type of material that enters inboxes, especially before opening email attachments, could help reduce these attacks.
In particular, he warns messages from unknown senders or demanding personal details should usually be avoided.
Additionally, installing and then updating security software is vital to improve defences against malware.
Mr Camm-Jones explains: "It's all very well having something installed but what you need is to get the regular updates and that either means getting something that is updated for free or keeping up your subscription."
MessageLabs research showed that there were 2,076 new malicious websites blocked every day in June - a rise of 58 per cent from May and the highest number since April 2007.
