Essentials Routemap
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has produced 'Essentials Routemap', an easy-to-use computer software package designed to help small businesses to improve their health and safety awareness. The package costs 95 pounds (plus VAT) and includes a user guide and a copy of the 'Essentials of Health and Safety at Work' handbook. HSE Bookfinder
HSE Bookfinder is a catalogue of all HSE's publications and multimedia products available from HSE Books. There are free leaflets to download as well as online ordering facilities.

Health & Safety at Work poster
Employers have a legal duty to display this poster in a prominent position in each workplace. The new poster is available now from HSE Books, priced £7-50. It must be displayed by 1 July 2000. The poster is also available in a Welsh language version.

May be distributed to employees as an alternative to displaying the poster. New leaflet is available for free download, or can be purchased in packs of 25, priced £5.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents website has an occupational safety section. Available there is a useful small firms help pack for you to read.

IOSH
Useful information from the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health.

Osh.Net: Gateway for Safety & Health Information Resources
Osh.Net was set up and is maintained on a for-profit basis by WorkCare, an occupational health consulting and outsourcing firm. The gateway currently contains annotated links to over 1300 Internet sites covering nearly all safety and health disciplines. Other services available include; a section on employment listings, the opportunity to register for a free monthly email newsletter and a safety and health bulletin board, where users can post their inquiries or messages.

workSMART
This section of workSMART from the TUC is all about keeping well at work. It explains the legal rights and duties of employees and employers, and shows how they can be enforced.

Key information and news on how occupational health affects you as an employer.

Guide to Planning Safe Events
A useful free guide from Plymouth-based (UK) Kaos Design, who are involved in event services, eg. nightclubs, festivals, children’s events. The Guide is a step-by-step list of tips about running safe events such as fetes, craft fairs or fundraising days. It covers risk assessment, planning, possible emergencies, who to contact in emergencies,and staff responsibilities.

Swansea Occupational Safety Group

Work-related Stress
A GUIDE FOR EMPLOYERS. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has put together a pack of information about work-related stress. The pack contains HSE's existing free leaflet "Help on work-related stress - a short guide" and factsheets on work-related stress. The pack is clearly aimed at employers, pointing out that work-related stress is a health issue which employers should address if they wish to avoid legal action from affected staff.
